Meet Lydia Chola-Waiyaki
Lydia Nzale Chola-Waiyaki is a born-again Christian who lives and works in Nairobi, Kenya. She is a member of Eagles Faith Christian Center, a non-denominational church located in the city of Nairobi.
She is an author and Associate Pastor. She is the author of ‘A Journey with Christ,’ ‘A Journey with Christ Part 2,’ ‘A Journey with Christ for Teenagers’ and a series of children’s books titled – ‘A Journey with Christ for Children’ book one to seven.
Since her first book, Lydia has ministered in many churches, schools and home-fellowships. Her prayer is that all will come to know the true God and worship him in spirit and in truth.
My Story
My name is Lydia Nzale Chola-Waiyaki. I was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. I am the fourth born in a family of seven children (one brother and five sisters). We grew up in a Christian home. Both my parents took us to Sunday school, and when we were older, they took us to church every Sunday. My mother is very prayerful. She always prayed for my siblings and me. She also taught us about Jesus when we were growing up. She bought us children Bible books and read the word of God to us. I always enjoyed Sunday school, and when I was older, I would accompany my parents to church. I loved Jesus and I knew from a very young age that he is God.
When I was in high school, I continued to attend church every Sunday. I knew in my heart that I believed totally in Christ, but I made a fresh commitment to salvation when I went to university. My relationship with Jesus grew when I was in my university years because I met many young people who loved the Lord. One person I met at the time who influenced my life positively is my friend, Zenah Nyathama. She helped me grow in the Lord. I continued to serve the Lord throughout my young adult life. My husband, who I also met at my university, also loved the Lord. We were married a few years later.
After graduating from university, I got a job with an international non-governmental organization. I have enjoyed working with this organization because my job there was a prayer that God answered to the letter. I like working with vulnerable groups because I find fulfillment in helping people in need.
After a year of marriage, our son, Mungai, was born in 2002. It was a joy to welcome him into the world. I never could have imagined that God would use this son of mine to bring me even closer to himself. Moreover, never could I have ever dreamed that God would choose my son to tell the world that heaven and hell are real places.
Despite my family being committed Christians and taking us to church, I was your regular young person. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends. I wanted to fit in and generally led a pretty normal life. I was never engaged enough in anything spiritual to warrant me being branded a zealous Christian. As an adult, I have been your regular wife and mother, going about life in the best way I know how. It therefore came as a complete surprise to me when I realized that God had set me up to spread his Word to the outermost parts of the world by bringing the supernatural right into my home.
Since our Lord Jesus started visiting my son and nephew, I have grown in the Lord in leaps and bounds. I have immersed myself in reading the Bible and various spiritual material so as to be able to understand and confirm the authenticity of the visions. Everything about me has changed: my dreams, plans, perspective toward life, motives, attitudes, values and relationships with family, friends and society as a whole. I enjoy talking about Jesus because I want everyone to know him. I want as many people as possible to make it to heaven!
